Light for the Last Days

There exist some objections, even accusations that the pre-Tribulation rapture view is not preparing Christians for the time of trouble that is coming. These say that those who have believed in the pre-Tribulation will find themselves in a time of great trouble instead of being raptured away to paradise. As a result, they will lose their faith, deny the Lord, and even take the Mark of the Beast.

Therefore some Christians view this is a dangerous doctrine which will lead people to hell. Those who teach such understanding are heretics. Their main point is: the pre-Tribulation view will leave you vulnerable and likely to lose your faith when you find yourself up against the Antichrist in the Great Tribulation period, being persecuted for your faith.

Is this the case? I agree that there are dangers in some pre-Tribulation teaching if it implies that we will be whisked out of the way before anything bad happens, and spared all suffering and taken to be with the Lord before encountering any trouble whatsoever. Especially when, in the light of the fact that people all over the world are now suffering from some terrible experiences in wars, famines, natural disasters, persecutions etc.

In my view, we should be ready for both – a sudden end to our life on earth (either by death or in the rapture) and, the possibility of suffering for our faith in the Lord. In either case, the one preparation that matters is that we repent of our sins and believe the Gospel, that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day, and that we commit our lives to following Jesus, no matter what other people think of us or what happens to us in this life.

Having Christ in us, the hope of glory, we trust Him to help us through our present troubles, and we look forward to the eternal state in which we will be with Him for ever. That is The Way we are assured of salvation from eternal death and suffering in hell.

In which case, we can know the peace of God under all circumstances as Paul wrote in Philippians 4:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4.6-7

and

for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4.11-13

If we learn how to do this now, we will be well prepared for whatever is to come in our lives, for good and for evil.

Now let’s have a look at a few of the issues relating to the rapture and the tribulation.

So what about preparing for the tribulation?

Another accusation made by those who support the post-Tribulation people is that those who take the pre-Tribulation view are not preparing now for the tribulation and so will be caught by surprise and not be ready when it comes.

Proverbs 22.3 says:

A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself,
But the simple pass on and are punished.

Proverbs 22.3

A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, But the simple pass on and are punished.

At the same time, in terms of practical preparation, there is only a limited amount you can do. The ‘US preppers’ for example, move to a remote area, stock up on food, get some guns to defend their stock, learn how to forage for wild food, cut themselves off from the grid, the banking system, etc. and prepare for the coming troubles that way.

For city dwellers like most of us, in an already overcrowded island like Britain (and continent of Europe), it is not such an easy option (it seems more possible in US). Many of us struggling to make ends meet in today’s circumstances where high food prices, rents, mortgages, energy costs etc. have become pressure points. Moving to the country is not really an option. It may be prudent to stock up on items as we are able, but this will not save us.

Some of the US preppers seem to me to be rather selfish in their attitudes, even prone to violence with their emphasis on owning guns to protect themselves. Their actions may buy them a bit of time in times of tribulation but may not save them.

This is especially the case if we find ourselves in the midst of the kind of mass death catastrophes described in the Book of Revelation,

“And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write,

‘These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life: “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

11 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” ’

Revelation 2.8-11

or under the control of an all-seeing dictatorship such as the one that now exists in China and may be coming our way sooner or later as implied in Revelation 13.

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. 15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Revelation 13.11-17

Quite a lot of teaching on this subject that I do on the This Month In Prophecy talks identifies ways in which the world is preparing the way for a digital dictatorship via AI and the control of data, moving towards CBDCs and government control of our finances and growing attempts to control our faith and obedience to the central power of the state.

This is something the Antichrist will take over in the end. I can tell you it is happening.

What to do about it? That is a bit more difficult to answer. Invest in gold? Some don’t have anything left over to invest in and, when the crunch comes, you won’t be able to eat gold anyway. Plant your own food? It may be a good idea, but still not an option for many. Gather together in survivalist communes? Again, that may be a good idea, but not an option for most.

In the end, the best advice is Matthew’s promptings of the Holy Spirit may be our best way to survive.

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Matthew 6.33-34

Also, learn now how to resist antichrist forces imposing themselves on us related to the ‘woke agenda’ and apostasy in the church.

And to keep in fellowship with other believers as far as possible.

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 10.23-25

If we don’t survive, we look forward to being with the Lord forever. In which case, the knowledge that we are saved through repentance and faith in the Blood of the Lamb, and the hope in the coming of the Lord are our best defence.

16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 4.16-18

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

Titus 2.11

If we have this faith, we will ‘love not our lives unto the death’ as in Revelation 12:

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Revelation 12.11

In other words, if it comes to the crunch – deny Jesus or die. We will choose death and go to be with the Lord forever more.

  • The Pre Tribulation Rapture theory is a Jesuit orchestrated deception, devised on the orders of the Pope at the council of Trent in the 16th Century . Its purpose was to counteract the Protestant Reformers’ Claims that the Papacy was the Antichrist . This grave heresy was taken up by Scottish Presbyterian Minister Edward Irving of the Irvingites , who subsequently passed it on to John Nelson Darby and Cyrus ingersol Scofield who disseminted it throughout Britain and inl America via the infamous Scofield Reference Bible which was used in the majority of American Seminaries thus churning out young fledgling pastors preaching Scofield’s false rapture theory. In truth, the Pre Tribulation Rapture theory is not substantiated by The Bible and certainly NOT by any of the eschatological scriptures What passage of Scripture do you cite in support of it?

  • Personally, I’m more of a “Whenever It Happens”-trib. I am ready to go through trials and tribulations for our Lord, but if we go up sooner, then HalleluYah. Though remember what God’s Word says, “no one knows the time, day nor the hour of when the Lord will return.” And wouldn’t the many none-believers who have heard the Rapture Stories then be able to work out when Yeshua will return to earth when calculating the seven years from when the Believers where taken up ?? 😳, think about it.

There are Scripture Passages that Preachers can use to suggest a Pre-trib Rapture, but there’s also Scriptural Readings that can also support either a Mid-trib or Post-trib theory too. And the reason why there’s so much controversial debate on this matter, is because it’s so true what God’s Word actually says … “NO ONE” knows the day nor the hour, and that’s why no one can’t seem to agree on this subject. Think about it.

Shalom, Maranatha and much blessings to all 🙏🏻

    • Thanks Anthony. Indeed, be ready for “Whenever it Happens”. Love that you’re looking forward to more people believing when questioning themselves about the events surrounding the Rapture!
