Light for the Last Days

And in this, He’s identified as a servant. In the following verses, we can go back to verse 10:

10 “Who among you fears the Lord?
Who obeys the voice of His Servant?
Who walks in darkness
And has no light?
Let him trust in the name of the Lord
And rely upon his God.

11 Look, all you who kindle a fire,
Who encircle yourselves with sparks:
Walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks you have kindled—
This you shall have from My hand:
You shall lie down in torment.

Isaiah 50.10-11

What is the significance of these verses? You are changing track, you’re talking about how do you respond to this message of the Servant Messiah?

We’ve talked about the need for the Messiah to come to answer the question about: Where was God? We talked about the answer to suffering, we talked about the Messiah Himself suffering in our place.

Now the question which the prophet asks is: How are you going to respond to this? And the following verses, the verses which we looked up here give you two responses, either rejection or faith. Either obedience to the Messiah or disobedience.

34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.”

Matthew 9.34

Either you condemn Him as an evildoer as you find the Pharisees did in the New Testament, or you justify Him by accepting Him as Saviour and Lord, and by having faith in Him.

Basically, that’s the choice which God is giving to the whole human race today. What are you going to do with Jesus?

Are you going to accept Him and believe in Him? Or, are you going to reject Him and find something wrong with Him?

If you do what you can to reject Him, are you going to contend or oppose Him? Are you going to be His adversary?

The passage here says that, if you do, you’re going to be devoured,

… Who will contend with Me?
Let us stand together.
Who is My adversary?
Let him come near Me.
Surely the Lord God will help Me;
Who is he who will condemn Me?
Indeed they will all grow old like a garment;
The moth will eat them up.

Isaiah 50.8-9

That’s not a good feat, is it? If you take the old coat and you throw it away, it’s of no use anymore and God is saying that if you reject Jesus, that’s how you’re going to end up. Your opposition to Him will come to nothing.

And so it is today. You’ve got lots of people today who are marching through the earth with all their defiance to God, whether they are Russia, China, Iran, whether they are leaders, LGBT, or whatever they are, and all sort of craziness is going on in our governments among the people, and even in the church, all shaking their faces against God and and going against what Jesus says.

They have their day, but Jesus the prophet says here that they are going to come to a point where they’re going to soon be thrown away like so much old rubbish.

We have got all these Antichrist forces who are going to be mocking Jesus, mocking those who follow Him. They may have their brief day in the limelight but then, they are going to be destroyed.

And that is the downside of the message, that there is a day of wrath coming, a day of judgment. But the believers in Jesus are going to be justified.

So, he says, ‘fear the lord and obey the voice of His Servant’, obey the voice of the Messiah. Don’t walk in darkness but have the light of life trust in the Lord as He has done. And rely upon your God.

If you haven’t made that choice today, make that choice for Jesus because it is vitally important that you make that choice to follow Yeshua the Messiah. There is nobody else who can save you. There is nobody else who can give you life eternal life except Jesus the Messiah.

The next verse tells you about the rejecters, verse 11.

11 Look, all you who kindle a fire,
Who encircle yourselves with sparks:
Walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks you have kindled—
This you shall have from My hand:
You shall lie down in torment.

Isaiah 50.10-11

What is this about ‘those who kindle a fire’, ‘those who kindle of fire and produce sparks’? Is the prophet talking about people having a barbecue? Probably not.

This is talking about the worship of false gods, of idols. It is all connected with idolatry and with some kind of rituals which take place often, rituals with fire, even with putting, God forbid, children through the fire. But all kinds of things which are totally against what God wants.

The fire is a false fire, that used in worshiping false gods. And this passage is clearly speaking about the false religious systems which are going to lead you to the ultimate fire, to hell.

It says you’re going to lie down in torment if you follow this path, and that speaks of the Lake of Fire.

Today, when we look at the world, we see that the vast majority of the world is worshiping false gods of some sort or no gods, or made up gods. And sadly, behind these false gods, there are demons who are leading people into all kinds of false religious worship.

Therefore, this passage speaks about the rejecters, where they are going to go, and the choice which we have to make for the righteous.
