Israel’s right to exist

Regarding the Israel situation, two questions have been raised that highlight two important topics:

1. The right of Jewish people to be in the land of Israel / or right of the State of Israel to exist.

2.  Jewish people and their Messiah. Is there no Messiah, a Messiah who has been once and is coming again / or Messiah still to come.

Because the restoration of Israel is part of God’s programme for the end of days, fulfilling prophecies such as Ezekiel’s in preparation for the return of Messiah, the Spirit of antichrist is behind opposition to Israel’s right to exist.

The Islamic movement, the far left, the liberal humanists, Christian anti-Semitism / replacement theology are all against Israel’s right to exist as a nation. Within Israel too, there religious battle over the identity of Messiah: Yeshua / Jewish Orthodoxy / New Age, etc all battle against each other. We are part of this battle for truth and for the Bible.

We’ve had a statement from Messianic leaders, calling to repentance and organising prayers for the 25-27th of February. Hanna Haustein wrote to me explaining:

Oh, that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I may weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people.
For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and have hewn themselves, cisterns – broken cisterns that can hold no water.
Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord. (Jeremiah 9.1, 2.13, 17.5,7)

Our nation is passing through, what could be, the most critical hour that we have faced in our history since our establishment as a modern State in 1948. We are confronted with war on multiple fronts, within and without the present borders of Israel. We have been fighting a war in Gaza for months and have suffered great losses and casualties, whether it be the deaths and severe wounding of many of our civilians and soldiers or the deaths and inhuman humiliations of many of our hostages. The unexpected invasion of Hamas on Shemini Atzeret and the invasion of our unprotected security barrier by thousands of terrorists resulted in the first nightmarish holocaust on the soil of Israel. This happened, not by coincidence, one day after the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War in 1973, which also took Israel by surprise. The unprotected southern border of Israel was a reflection of an ominous spiritual reality that our spiritual gates were open and unprotected so that Satan could bitterly attack us because of sin in our Land.

We are facing a desperate situation that challenges us as never before in our modern history. All human solutions are feeble in the face of the multiple dilemmas and quandaries that face us concerning internal and external battles that threaten our existence as a nation. The sinister pressures and demands of the US and other nations that are weighing upon Israel, if conceded to, are sure guarantees of future disaster. If we do not submit to this outside pressure, we could well find ourselves fully isolated from the world community of nations. Before us, remain the unresolved questions of war with Hezbollah in Lebanon and an ever-increasing possible future atomic war with Iran and her proxies in the nations that surround us.

If ever there was a time when we, the indigenous Body of Messiah in Israel, needed to take our place as a priesthood before the throne of God on behalf of our nation, it is now! There have been several calls to prayer in Israel by the religious establishment, but we as a Body have not yet gathered together to humble ourselves before heaven on behalf of our nation, beseeching God that His mercy, forgiveness, protection, and divine intervention be extended to us. There has been prayer in the individual congregations, but we have failed as a Body to be united as one Voice before heaven, in fasting and prayer as a priesthood on behalf of our people.
The sin in the Land has opened spiritual gates for this present disaster to come upon our land and people. The divisions and enmity within the nation and its leadership, the hatred without cause, the shedding of innocent blood through abortions, the advocacy of immorality and sexual perversion, the idolatry and pride, and the great sin of rejecting the sovereignty of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob over this land and its people – have all worked to remove God’s covering of blessing and a great measure of His protection from upon us. The Nova party, at which our youth were dancing around a large statue of Shiva was reminiscent of the sin of the Golden Calf and a clear warning of its consequences.

What’s happening?

War report

The IDF have neutralised most of the threat in the north of the Gaza Strip and in Khan Yunis. They accomplished this by going to where Hamas was hiding out and destroying them there. These necessary actions were taken despite those locations typically being protected behind humanitarian façades. Schools, mosques, and hospitals all served as human shields, and most, if not all, contained access to the underground terror tunnels. Israel took great effort to warn and protect civilians. They implemented phone blasts, leaflet drops, and every practical method has been used to warn people ahead of times that the IDF was coming in. These warnings have obviously worked because tens of thousands of people fled further south prior to the operation.

The Israel Defense Forces have begun manoeuvring in Rafah, southern Gaza—the last Hamas stronghold—towards the end of February, and could complete the high-intensity phase of its war against Hamas by early May, a senior former Israeli defence official says. Four battalions of Hamas need to be dismantled. They have asked the population in Rafah to move to designated areas where they would safer be.

Gazans have wanted to cross to Egypt but Egyptian authorities will not allow this to happen. Egypt is in a bind over situation. There are a tremendous number of tunnels between Egypt and Rafah, some of them large enough to drive a truck through. Weapons, ammunition, supplies, and, even, commodities have been smuggled through these tunnels for years. If Israel succeeds in Rafah as they have in northern Gaza and Khan Yunis, the Egyptian corruption that has allowed this smuggling to take place will be exposed and the government will be severely embarrassed on the world stage.

There is a concerted international push for a ceasefire. This has been repeatedly rejected by Israel. Ambassador Erdan said at the UN:

“With a ceasefire in place, Hamas will regroup, rearm, and their next attempted genocide against Israelis will only be a question of when, not if… Israel seeks a ceasefire, but there is only one formula that we are willing to accept. All of our hostages must be released and Hamas must turn themselves in.”

Peace proposal

The Biden administration is working on plan to tie rapprochement between Israel and Saudi Arabia to substantial steps toward Palestinian statehood. The US will make a defence pact with Saudi Arabia as part of this rapprochement. SA, for its part, will establish diplomatic relations with Israel, with all parties agreeing to forge irreversible steps toward Palestinian statehood. Despite the war in Gaza, Saudi officials have never renounced efforts toward normalization of relations with Israel. They have also held a major meeting with Egypt, Jordan, and the PA in Saudi to discuss the plan. Some statements affirm that serious reforms in the PA are necessary for it to participate in any future ‘day after’ governance agreement. Click HERE for more information.

But the PA is working simultaneously on an agreement to bring Hamas into the governance plans for the West Bank and Gaza. Hamas approved a three-phase plan leading to “complete reconciliation [with Fatah]” and the Gaza-based terror group joining the Palestinian Liberation Organisation, which controls the Palestinian Authority, under a “unified Palestinian-Arab vision.”

Given the level of support Hamas has in the West Bank, this would basically mean that Hamas would be in a controlling position within the PA while still calling for the elimination of the State of Israel.

“To set up the Palestinian State seems like a good idea. To achieve peace is something everyone will be looking for. Everybody wants to have a peaceful solution. They don’t want to see all these wars going on, and people suffering. Obviously, as Christians, and the Jewish people too, we don’t want to see wars and suffering either. But the problem is peace. There is no peace in the minds of Hamas and it is their ultimate aim to wage a war of destruction on Israel. That is the big issue which is facing Israel.”

Tony Pearce

The US is leading international efforts to push forward the two-state solution with or without Israel’s approval. There is reportedly talk of some form of recognition of future Palestinian statehood without agreement being reached between Israel and the PA. This would tie Israel’s hands and set an irreversible timetable toward that goal.

The UK, France and other world powers have signalled that they, too, would join this unilateral recognition of Palestinian statehood.

This is a major departure from the so-called “Oslo” peace process, which made eventual Palestinian statehood the result of bilateral agreement between the parties. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly opposed the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state throughout his terms as premier. Israelis say that imposing a Palestinian state on Israel will have the opposite effect of what Biden and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken claim, resulting in an even more serious conflict.

Israel and the West are on a major collision course, and even if Hamas is defeated and eliminated as a military threat, it will have won in this regard. Israel will remain alone and not be reckoned among the nations.

Hamas openly seeks to destroy Israel in its entirety and replace it with a Palestinian-Islamic state. Article 13 of its charter states that

“there is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad [holy war].”

The real meaning of ‘From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free’ –

Hamas wants not only the ‘river to sea’ but

“all of Palestine, from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea, and from Ras al-Naquora [Rosh Hanikra on the Israel-Lebanon border] to Umm al-Rashrash [Eilat, Israel’s southernmost city], is one land that is indivisible and cannot be sold or bargained.”

Israeli FM slams UN for calling Hamas ‘political movement’ –

TEL AVIV—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlined a blueprint for post-war Gaza that calls for it to be administered by local Palestinian officials free of links to militant groups and for Israel to conduct security operations in the strip indefinitely.

Israel’s current government’s aim is to continue to have a security presence after combat operations end, that is, a demilitarised Gaza, a buffer zone off limits to Palestinians around its borders with Israel and control of the Egypt-Gaza border.

There is increasing pressure on Israel to stop from the UN, the USA, and the UK who are all calling for a permanent ceasefire. The problem for Israel is that they know that not just Hamas, but the supposedly moderate PA / PLO are motivated by a spirit of lies and murder.

Islamists say to themselves,

‘Lies are sins except when rescuing a Muslim from a disaster.’
1 The Messenger of Allah said: “It is not lawful to lie except in three cases: Something a man tells his wife to please her, to lie during war, and to lie in order to bring peace between the people.” [Tirmidhi]

The Truth About Lying: Is It Sinful Or Not? – Islam QA

They equate Israel with [Naqba] النكبة / ‘disaster’ or ‘catastrophe’. In other words, in times of war, you can tell lies to get your way. The true meaning of ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’ is that Israel will exist until the Islamic movement succeeds in removing it. The goal of Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and Houthis is this, the death of all Jews, in which case Israel ceases to exist. Their goal is tantamount to a second holocaust.

Islam does not recognise Jesus as the Son of God. Islam reduces Jesus Christ to a ‘messenger’. The Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem states this clearly:

E – nor utter aught concerning God save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of
Mary, was only a Messenger of God, and His Word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit
from Him. So believe in God and His messengers, and say not ‘Three’ – Cease! (it is)

We know from scripture that the spirit of antichrist is a liar and a murderer. Jesus says of those who will not hear Him, both Jew and gentile alike:

42 … “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

Those who deny the Son of Man and Son of God, Jesus the Messiah will know condemnation. John says,

18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 3.18

36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

John 3.36

And Jesus confirms it all in His own words:

24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. 25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. 30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

John 5.24-30

Israel / Jerusalem the burdensome stone

Zechariah 12

2 “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.

Zechariah 12.2-3

Those who heave away ‘burdensome stone’ are the ones trying to resolve Jerusalem / Israel / promised land issue, and without the will of God backing them, they will suffer in the process.  Though we all want peace, we have to acknowledge that the peace proposals we’ve had so far and the ones that are to be put forward are based on lies and deception.

Daniel 11 (Maccabees)

This is also a reminder reminder of the intrigues around the time of Antiochus IV Epiphanes seeking control of the land in

20 “There shall arise in his place one who imposes taxes on the glorious kingdom; but within a few days he shall be destroyed, but not in anger or in battle. 21 And in his place shall arise a vile person, to whom they will not give the honour of royalty; but he shall come in peaceablyet seize the kingdom by intrigue22 With the force of a flood they shall be swept away from before him and be broken, and also the prince of the covenant. 23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time.

Notice the adverbs Daniel uses here: ‘peaceably, ‘deceitfully’.  He will come against the people of God in a deceitful way, offering a false peace. These plans will prevail for a short time, but they will fail in the end.

Daniel 11

27 Both these kings’ hearts shall be bent on evil, and they shall speak lies at the same table; but it shall not prosper, for the end will still be at the appointed time. 28 While returning to his land with great riches, his heart shall be moved against the holy covenant; so he shall do damage and return to his own land.

Daniel 11.27-28

Daniel 9.27

These are the patterns for similar events taking place in last days. Lies and deception will also lead to the 7-year covenant of the Antichrist.

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”

Daniel 9.27

Deception and a false peace leads to the time of Jacob’s trouble (affecting Israel and Jewish people worldwide) which is parallel to the Great Tribulation (affecting all peoples). But he / Israel shall be saved out of it by intervention of the Lord.

“For thus says the Lord:

‘We have heard a voice of trembling,
Of fear, and not of peace.
Ask now, and see,
Whether a man is ever in labor with child?
So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins
Like a woman in labor,
And all faces turned pale?
Alas! For that day is great,
So that none is like it;
And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble,
But he shall be saved out of it.

‘For it shall come to pass in that day,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
«That I will break his yoke from your neck,
And will burst your bonds;
Foreigners shall no more enslave them.
But they shall serve the Lord their God,
And David their king,
Whom I will raise up for them.

10 ‘Therefore do not fear, O My servant Jacob,’ says the Lord,
‘Nor be dismayed, O Israel;
For behold, I will save you from afar,
And your seed from the land of their captivity.
Jacob shall return, have rest and be quiet,
And no one shall make him afraid.
11 For I am with you,’ says the Lord, ‘to save you;
Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you,
Yet I will not make a complete end of you.
But I will correct you in justice,
And will not let you go altogether unpunished.

Jeremiah 30.5-11
