Light for the Last Days

SHORT TALK

31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

Jeremiah 31.31-34

Iran and Israel

Iran’s President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six other passengers were killed when their helicopter crashed in a mountainous area of northern Iran in foggy conditions on Monday. Raisi was the top contender for the post of Supreme Leader when Ayatollah Khameini dies (hopefully soon). This is where real power in Iran lies backed by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. That was the next area of interest in Iran’s succession contest after the election for Prime Minister. Both ‘elections’ are rigged so only candidates supported by regime can win.

The 5-day mourning and consternation amongst Iran’s leadership was backed by the UN and world leaders. A minute’s silence was held at the UN where a UK representative joined.

The President of the EU Council Charles Michel and the EU’s top diplomat Josep Borrell both tweeted their “condolences.”

“The EU expresses its sincere condolences for the death of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian.”

Iranian opposition groups, who have widely celebrated the deaths of the senior government officials, swiftly reacted with outrage to the statements of condolence. In their responses, Iranians, Israelis, and genuine democrats in the west have been quick to highlight Raisi’s role in the 1988 massacre of up to 30,000 thousand political prisoners, the regime’s backing of terror groups, fomenting of wars in the Middle East, seeking the destruction of Israel, and sending Shahed drones to Russia with which to terrorize Ukrainian civilians.

Within Iran, there are abundance of jokes and conspiracy theories around Raisi’s death, highlighting the widespread disgust at the Islamic regime, its lies and cover ups, and its oppression of its own people.

Many do not believe that Raisi’s death was an accident and there are posts already circulating about government lies. According to Amirhossein, a 35-year electrician turned activist:

“They never tell the truth anyway. They lied then, they lie now. They’re actually incapable of telling the truth,”

Amirhossein

“Many hours after [Raisi’s] death was confirmed, they published pictures of the crash scene that were found out to be from another crash a few years back. Why would you do that if you didn’t think that real photos of the crash site could contain clues that would help experts establish this wasn’t an accident?”

Amirhossein

Iranians flooded social media platforms with jokes and speculations about the circumstances and the cause of the air-crash that killed President Ebrahim Raisi, many pointing fingers at Mojtaba Khamenei, the Supreme Leader’s son.

Mojtaba is widely seen as the frontrunner to succeed his 85-year old father. The premise of the main theme running through most such posts is that Raisi was a contender in the unofficial, unspoken race to become the next ruler of the Islamic Republic, and therefore had to be ‘removed.’ There is, of course, no conclusive evidence — nor even much circumstantial evidence, so soon after the incident — to prove the assertion that Raisi’s death wasn’t an accident or that Mojtaba had any involvement. But since there is unlikely to be any legal process of inquiry and the public does not trust the state and its institutions, the rumours, hearsay, and conspiracy theories are likely to abound.

Whether there is any truth in this or not (probably not), it will make it harder for the regime to push through Mojtaba as next supreme leader, and this will increase strife and confusion within the elite (probably a good thing). Meanwhile, an Israeli joke about Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter plane crash morphed into fake news after the Hamas terror group’s social media took it seriously and spread it to the Arab media. Pilot was Mossad agent Eli Copter.

MOSSAD AGENT ELI COPTER FLEW HELICOPTER THAT CRASHED WITH RAISI ON BOARD

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was deeply involved in Iran’s Middle East policy of destabilising and taking control of Arab countries with an aim to using its proxies in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Gaza, the West Bank to confront and destroy Israel. Recently, Jordan intercepted an Iranian cell trying to smuggle weapons into Jordan to help anti- regime pro-Moslem Brotherhood groups seeking to destabilise Jordan. Note that Jordan and Saudi Arabia co-operated with Israel in the May 12 missile attack on Israel.

We pray that this event may further destabilise the criminal Islamic regime in Teheran and set the country free. Shame on those western nations that sent messages of support to the regime. Let it fall. It probably won’t yet because it still has a role to play in the Gog and Magog war alliance of nations coming against Israel.

We note also the strong support given by Russia and Turkey to Iran.

Israel at odds with the UN

On May 15, the Israeli government unanimously approved a proposal to oppose a UN resolution promoting recognition of a Palestinian state.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who initiated the proposal has said:

“No reward will be given for the terrible massacre of Oct. 7, which 80% of the Palestinians, both in the West Bank and in Gaza, support,”

Benjamin Netanyahu

The Cabinet signalled that it will not consider any UN resolution on the matter binding.

“We will not allow them to establish a terrorist state from which they can attack us even more. No one will prevent us, Israel, from exercising our basic right to defend ourselves—not the UN General Assembly and not any other entity.”

Benjamin Netanyahu

The government decision came less than a week after the UN General Assembly voted 143-9 to give the Palestinians unprecedented rights for a non-member observer state, though stopping short of granting Palestinians full U.N. membership. The resolution came after the USA vetoed a UN Security Council resolution that would have accepted the Palestinian Authority’s application for full membership in the global body. Now the State of Palestine is recognised by Ireland, Norway, Spain. Others are also queuing up. Oslo needs an agreement between parties – Israel and PA – to come to pass.

Israel being at odds with the UN is nothing new, but this comes with increasing pressure from the world to accept a Palestinian State on its borders.  This would not result in peace and security, but in insecure borders, and a potentially terrorist state using its base as a platform from which to destroy Israel.  Jerusalem and this narrow strip of land remain the ‘burdensome stone’ of Zechariah 12. Israel will engage the attention of both local and international players until the only one who can bring peace to region returns – Yeshua the Messiah.

And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

Zechariah 12:3

International Criminal Court has indicted Netanyahu as a war criminal and instructed Israel to halt its Rafah operation. Israel is indignant at the ICC’s equation of Netanyahu with Sinwar – the Hamas leader.

Sinwar is a terror leader responsible for the massacre on October 7th. Netanyahu is the leader of democratic nation seeking to defend itself against those who want its destruction. This is making Israel look like a pariah state through the use of propaganda. Much of it is false. He is accused of the genocide of Palestinians.

The body count (number of Palestinian deaths due to the conflict) is much lower than given. Estimates now say that half of the casualties were Hamas operatives and the other half civilians. In the given conditions of war, this bears out Israel’s effort to save civilian lives as far as possible. Hamas is responsible for starting conflict, also for continuing it, firing missiles at Tel Aviv, placing munitions / tunnels in civilian areas. The estimates also say that there is more than enough food going into Gaza to feed the population and that much of it is being stolen by Hamas – even the Palestinian Authority has acknowledged this.

There is division inside Israel – Gantz threatens to leave war cabinet if Netanyahu does not come up with a post-war plan. Who will be in power? They want to bring down the Netanyahu government, and get Gantz into power. This is also what the US and Biden want. Then, they will push for a peace settlement. There is also growing anger from hostage families at Netanyahu’s failure to get them released.

On a separate note, Yossi Ovadia of the Karmiel Fellowship in Israel sent us information about witchcraft conference in Israel which is preparing raves similar to the ones Hamas targeted on Oct 7th. This will bring further judgement on Israel.

Proposal for an imposed peace agreement

On April 11, Time Magazine published an article titled A Million Dollar Middle East Peace Plan. It lays out a scenario for peace between Israel and its Middle East enemies that is chillingly similar to what the Bible predicts.

The author, Kai Bird, says,

“This conflict is so dangerous that the time has come for the international community to impose a solution.”

Is this a compelled solution to the nations? That is precisely what Daniel 9.27 says,

“He will confirm וְהִגְבִּיר [wǝhigbîr] a covenant with many for one week (seven years).”

Daniel 9.27

Some take the idea of “confirming” to mean that he [the Antichrist or ‘prince who is to come‘ of Daniel 9.26) will simply strengthen an already existing covenant. But that idea of “confirming,” literally in Hebrew, means to “make strong.” He is going to make strong a covenant—or even “compel” a covenant.

The Time Magazine article insists that “the international community” needs to “impose a solution” by convening “a Geneva peace conference” where all the essential parties will be forced to participate and “face financial and legal sanctions if they fail to show up.”

“A conversation will take place in which all parties are heard. But the American, European, and other international diplomats invited to Geneva will be responsible for the actual drafting of a peace treaty.”

Kai Bird

So, nations other than Israel and their enemies will develop this peace treaty draft. It will be brokered by outside forces, which is exactly what Daniel 9:27 predicts.

The author concludes,

“This will be an imposed peace because the global stakes are too high.”

A Million Dollar Middle East Peace Plan by Kai Bird

The plan is to “impose peace” upon these nations. That’s what the Bible predicts. It will be an imposed, compelled, or “take it or leave it” covenant that will be negotiated and brokered by the Antichrist, who will rise from Europe and a revived / reunited Roman Empire.

Information from prophecy teacher Mark Hitchcock

They just want to destroy Israel

In Psalm 120, the psalmist cries out to the Lord to deliver him from a deceitful tongue and enemies who hate peace:

Woe is me, that I dwell in Meshech,
That I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
My soul has dwelt too long
With one who hates peace.
am for peace;
But when I speak, they are for war.

Psalm 120.5-7

I have equated Kedar with Islamist forces seeking Israel’s destruction and Meshech with the secular left / liberal forces also seeking the demise of Israel.

The international scene is increasingly given over to the lies of the Islamist and leftist agendas while Israel is fighting for its life in the war torn Middle East. The violence of these forces that seek its destruction as a nation is clear.

Since October 7, this leftist – Islamist alliance has engendered frightening levels of Antisemitism and anti-Israel hatred manifested in the streets of London and European cities, in the universities of America as well as in the jihadi-infested camps of the Middle East. There’s a saying in Islam, ‘Lies are sins except when rescuing a Muslim from a disaster.’

As far as Islam is concerned the establishment of the State of Israel is the النَّكْبَة/Nakba – Arabic for ‘disaster’. So, to rescue Muslims from such ‘disaster’, you can tell as many lies as you like and indulge in violence and war for ever in order to bring an end to the Jewish state.

A report from the US shows that the demonstrators against Israel are really campaigning for the elimination of Israel.

The slogans would seem to say it all:

“We say justice, you say how? Burn Tel Aviv to the ground.”
“Hamas we love you, we support your rockets too.”

Calls for violence by anti-Israel activists continue at Columbia – The Jerusalem Post (jpost.com)

It’s not exactly “give peace a chance,” but that doesn’t seem to be what many of these protesters want. Rather, they want to “globalize the Intifada,” which might better be translated to mean bringing violence and terror to “Zionists,” or Jews, around the world.

‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free, they chant’. It’s a lie. If, God forbid, they had their way, Palestine would not be free, it would be either an Islamic dictatorship or a radioactive ruin.

The only way to have freedom for the Jews and Arabs of the region is a strong Israel within secure borders, able to resist the terrorists backed by Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, and even the Palestinian Authority, who bring nothing but ruin and misery to their own people and to Israel.

Today, our youth at universities is being indoctrinated with this propaganda. Effectively, they call for the end of Israel, and the end of western civilisation based on Judeo-Christian ethic.  The anti-Israel, anti-Christian narrative has been building up over the centuries and leads directly to what the Bible, the Word of God calls ‘the time of Jacob’s trouble‘ in Jeremiah 30.

“For thus says the Lord:

‘We have heard a voice of trembling,
Of fear, and not of peace.
Ask now, and see,
Whether a man is ever in labor with child?
So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins
Like a woman in labor,
And all faces turned pale?
Alas! For that day is great,
So that none is like it;
And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble,
But he shall be saved out of it.

‘For it shall come to pass in that day,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
That I will break his yoke from your neck,
And will burst your bonds;
Foreigners shall no more enslave them.
But they shall serve the Lord their God,
And David their king,
Whom I will raise up for them.

Jeremiah 30.5-9

Israel will be saved from this. The future Salvation, restoration, and security of Israel as a nation, the correction of its mistakes are all foretold in the Bible, both in the Old (Tanakh) and the New Testaments, and point directly to Yeshua / Jesus’s involvement, to God’s New Covenant for Jew and Gentile alike patently manifested in Jeremiah’s prophecy, chapter 31:

Thus says the Lord:

“The people who survived the sword
Found grace in the wilderness—
Israel, when I went to give him rest.”

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.
Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt,
O virgin of Israel!

Jeremiah 31.2-4

and
