Light for the Last Days

SHORT TALK

Here are a couple of snippets of information that I got from the news and which may or may not be relevant, but which you can think about.

This was from World Israel News:

The Hamas plan shared by other radical Islamic groups to drive the Jews out of Israel is having the an unintended effect as rising anti-Semitism around the globe after the Hamas Massacre of Israelis on October the 7th is reportedly catalysing Jews to consider moving to Israel.

The Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel Major General Doron Almog posited that because of rising anti-Semitism, one million new immigrants will emigrate to Israel over the next few years.

Aliyah and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer said the number of Jews considering moving to Israel increased by 81% in North America and 149% in France as of late October. World Israel News reported,

“Tens of thousands of Israelis who had been living abroad returned to Israel to join reserve army units and assist the war effort.”

World Israel News

I’m not sure whether that is the case. Some Jewish people might think, ‘well, Israel looks more dangerous than Golders Green, but that’s what the World Israel News is reporting.

It is an interesting possibility because the Bible says that

“Hear the word of the Lord, O nations,
And declare it in the isles afar off, and say,
‘He who scattered Israel will gather him,
And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’

Jeremiah 31:10

One of the signs of the last days is the regathering of the Jewish people to the land of Israel which is why this is not just any old conflict, this is the conflict which is leading up to the Second Coming of Jesus.

Another interesting little piece of news I picked up is about The Iron Beam. I have mentioned this before but it’s been back in the news, and I quote from an article I got off the internet here:

Israel over the past 15 years developed a sophisticated multi-layered defense system, which has been put into active duty as it faces aerial threats from terror groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, various pro-Iranian militias in Syria and the Houthis in Yemen.

i24news

So Israel has used the Iron Dome which has shut down missiles.

But, you’ve probably read about that among the recent developments.

The “Iron Beam” system from Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has stood out as a major innovation with a high-power laser to intercept rockets, anti-tank missiles, drones, and mortar shells. More than a hundred Rafael engineers have reportedly been working on this project, considered one of the most significant technological challenges ever faced by the Israeli defence industries, in order to create a fast and effective interception system, with inexhaustible and near cost-free ammunition. Recent tests of Iron Beam in the Negev have shown promising results, with the system successfully intercepting various airborne threats. The heart of the system is an electric laser pointer, capable of targeting and sending out a powerful laser beam, invisible to the naked eye.

i24news

In an interview with the Calcalist newspaper one of Raphael Raphael’s Iron Beam program managers expressed high ambitions for this new defense system, saying,

“Our aim is to reach a state where the enemy feels totally powerless. He has to understand that our laser pointers, deployed where needed, intercept and destroy all his attacks, almost instantly after they are launched, long before they reach Israeli territory or threaten anyone else. In such a scenario, the activation of warning sirens might even become unnecessary. The initial deployment of Iron Beam is scheduled for 2025, although its development is currently being accelerated for service as early as 2024.”

Calcalist

Now, if they’ve really got that up and running it means that Israel can have a defence against all the missiles which Hizballah has got. They become just a lot of useless tin. It can also be a very cheap defence option, much cheaper than the Iron Dome system which costs about $50,000 for every rocket fired. Israel can use once this is installed and eliminate the missiles.

I don’t know if it’s totally been proved yet that it can work, but if it does, then it would be a very interesting development but also give Israel the kind of security which is comparable to what is expressed in the Book of Ezekiel chapter 38-39 where there is a passage saying that an army comes down from the north against Israel. That is what we call the Gog and Magog War.

One of the reasons why people have said this can’t possibly happen is because the Bible says that, at that time, Israel be living ‘peaceably’. Now that’s how it’s translated in the NLT/CEV/LT, but I looked it up in Hebrew and the word is not שָׁלוֹם [šālôm/shalom] (‘peace’), it’s another word, לָבֶטַח [lābeṭaḥ] which means with ‘security/safely’.

So, if Israel has some kind of a security system, i.e., this Iron Beam system, then it has a defence against an aerial invasion coming from its enemies round about.

Additionally, when we look in Ezekiel 39.3, it says,

Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand, and cause the arrows to fall out of your right hand.

Ezekiel 39.3

Obviously, Ezekiel didn’t know too much about missiles and anti-missile systems, so God put in his mind bows and arrows which are metaphors for some of this stuff.

Is that what it’s about? Well, it is interesting that, if Israel has such a system working, and also a guarantee of a demilitarized Palestine policed by an international force, it could then accept a temporary peace agreement. That’s a possibility; so, watch this space.

Unfortunately, if it does happen, the Bible indicates this will be a deception. It will turn out to be a covenant with death, a conspiracy which will bring to power the Antichrist or the Assyrian who is prophesied in a number of passages in the Bible.

14 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scornful men,
Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem,
15 Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death,
And with Sheol we are in agreement.
When the overflowing scourge passes through,
It will not come to us,
For we have made lies our refuge,
And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.”

16 Therefore thus says the Lord God:

“Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation,
A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;
Whoever believes will not act hastily.
17 Also I will make justice the measuring line,
And righteousness the plummet;
The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
And the waters will overflow the hiding place.
18 Your covenant with death will be annulled,
And your agreement with Sheol will not stand;
When the overflowing scourge passes through,
Then you will be trampled down by it.

Isaiah 28.14-18

One interesting thing which I had never really seen before is found in Micah chapter 5. I may give a bit more of a talk on this, especially as we move up to that season of the year.

We have the famous prophecy of Micah which speaks about the birth the One who’s born in Bethlehem.

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From עֹולָם׃ everlasting.”

Micah 5.2

From ‘everlasting’ עֹולָם׃ [ʿôlām] in Hebrew.

How can He (the One) be born and yet have His origins (whose goings forth) from everlasting וּמֹוצָאֹתָיו מִקֶּדֶם מִימֵי עֹולָם׃ [ûmôṣāʾōtāyw miqqedem mîmê ʿôlām]. Has anybody here been born and yet have ‘his/her origins from everlasting’? No, you and I had our origins when our father and mother came together and conceived us. That’s when we began.

Micah is talking about someone who began in the days of eternity. Therefore, the only One who can begin in the days of eternity is God.

So, you have here a prophecy which speaks about the birth of the Messiah who is also going to be a Divine person, be born as the Son of God and fulfilled in Yeshua as we read in Matthew chapter 1.

16 And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.

17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.

Matthew 1.16-17

Micah goes on to say,

Therefore He shall give them up,
Until the time that she who is in labor has given birth;
Then the remnant of His brethren
Shall return to the children of Israel.
And He shall stand and feed His flock
In the strength of the Lord,
In the majesty of the name of the Lord His God;
And they shall abide,
For now He shall be great
To the ends of the earth;
And this One shall be peace.

Micah 5.3-5

In other words, that this One we’re speaking about here, who is Yeshua, at His Second Coming, is going to stand in the land of Israel and bring peace to Israel.

And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
From east to west,
Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south.

Zechariah 14.4

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Acts 1.9-11

And this One shall be peace.

When the Assyrian comes into our land,
And when he treads in our palaces,
Then we will raise against him
Seven shepherds and eight princely men.
They shall waste with the sword the land of Assyria,
And the land of Nimrod at its entrances;
Thus He shall deliver us from the Assyrian,
When he comes into our land
And when he treads within our borders.

Micah 5.5-6

30 So David went up by the Ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered and went barefoot. And all the people who were with him covered their heads and went up, weeping as they went up. 31 Then someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.”

2 Samuel 15.30-31

The Assyrian is used here as a type of the Antichrist. It is saying that, when the Antichrist comes into our land and defiles it, then God’s going to raise up this One who is our peace, who has already been here before in the person of Yeshua.

He who was born in Bethlehem, at His Second Coming, is going to bring our peace and deliver us from the Assyrian, from the Antichrist. That is what Jesus is going to do in His Second Coming.

Micah 5 is an interesting scripture it speaks about the First and Second Coming of Yeshua the Messiah, and it tells us what we saw already in the passage from Isaiah: that the answer to Israel’s problems in the end is not going to be in its technology and its alliances with America or with anybody else, the answer is with the Lord.

And in that day it shall be
That living waters shall flow from Jerusalem,
Half of them toward the eastern sea
And half of them toward the western sea;
In both summer and winter it shall occur.
And the Lord shall be King over all the earth.
In that day it shall be—
“The Lord is one,”
And His name one.

Zechariah 14.8-9

The situation which Israel is facing ultimately is going to need someone who is much stronger than they are. It will require God to come and bring them peace through the return of the Messiah as you read in Zechariah Chapter 14 and other passages of the Bible, which is the reason why when you see all these bad things happening then don’t despair

28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

Luke 21.28

Jesus is coming and although we see all this terrible things happening in Israel and we are witnesses to Israel’s insecurity, in the end, Israel is going to be delivered. There will be various conspiracies, various attempts to wipe them out from nations round about them, alliances made which are contrary to God’s Will yet, in the end, God is going to have the last word and save Israel, and save the world from destruction.

So, praise the Lord that’s a little bit about Israel. I hope it makes a bit of sense.
