There’s actually another word, ‘kuryakon’, a Greek word which means ‘the Lord’s house’ and in the way which languages words change as they go from one language to another actually our word church is related to the Greek word ‘kuryakon’. It goes from kuryakon to kirk in German, to kirk in Scottish, to church in English. In a way, it’s a pity that it does that because it’s not the word which is used in the New Testament. The word ‘kuryakon’ never appears in the New Testament. The word ‘ecclesia’ does.
